This website is dedicated to the holy seat of Lord Ganesha at Anjur (Thane District, Maharashtra, India) – Shree Siddhivinayak Anjur.
Ganesha is known by many names – Vignaharta, Gajanana, Vakratunda and many more. He is the lord of wisdom, fortune, excellence, and opportunities. And He is also the very inspiration that guides many ordinary people to extraordinary acts of bravery when the inner call of duty beacons.
Shree Siddhivinayak temple at Anjur was established and enshrined in AD 1718. And the Lord has guided and led the temple’s founders (the Naiks of Anjur) to major victories in the famed Battles of Bacaim (Battles of Vasai) 1937-39 that go down the annals of history as some of the most glorious battles of the Maratha Empire.
The website attempts to highlight this great history, and offers its viewers a glimpse of the Lord – the quintessential symbol of hope.
Anjur is village close to Thane in Bhiwandi Taluka, about 15 km from Thane off Mumbai-Nashik Road. To its South is the Mumbra creek, whose marshlands and mudflats are a home to many migratory birds.
Today the temple is managed by the descendants of the Naik family under the auspices of Shree Siddhivinayak Devasthan Trust [Registration No 1116 (Thane)], Naik Madi, At Post Anjur, Tal Bhiwandi, Dist Thane 421 302, India.
